Holpp wins summary judgment in wrongful death medical malpractice wound care case

Norman, Wood, Kendrick & Turner partner, Celeste P. Holpp, won summary judgment in a wrongful death medical malpractice wound care case in Alabama. The plaintiff, wife of the deceased, claimed defendant nurses breached the standard of care in their assessment and wound care of the decedent. The defendants were successful in arguing the plaintiff had failed to meet her burden to prove through expert testimony that the nurses’ alleged negligence caused the decedent’s sacral wound infection and that the infection caused the decedent’s sepsis leading to his death. The trial was set for September 2009.
