Summer Mississippi Bar Update

NWKT associate, William McKenzie, is also licensed to practice law in Mississippi. He recently attended the Mississippi Bar’s annual July conference in Destin, Florida. Some of the topics discussed were developments in the areas of employment law, toxic tort law, and the use of electronic equipment in the courtroom. Recent trends in personal injury law and medical malpractice were also discussed.

The Mississippi legislature is considering implementing separate “Business Courts” in response to the overwhelming percentage of business-type lawsuits filed in Mississippi Circuit Courts. If Business Courts are indeed implemented, it should result in more expeditious lawsuits and more business-minded judges.

A native of Batesville, Mississippi, William McKenzie received his B.B.A. and J.D. from the University of Mississippi. His practice is focused on Complex Business Litigation; Medical Malpractice; and Insurance Litigation.
